Miles Joseph, the author of Dear Reality, wrote for a short-lived sitcom called "Stays in Vegas" in 2001. Stranded in Hollywood unable to find a steady writing gig, he'd auditioned for hundreds of reality-TV shows by the end of 2003. Though paying work remained hard to find, Joseph slowly built a reputation as an author of shocking and uproariously funny short stories. Dear Reality is his first novella. His short fiction was nominated for the Pushcart Prize in 1999, 2000, and 2002.
